EBAday is the summit for payments and transaction banking leaders, hosted annually by Finextra and the European Banking Association (EBA). It's a dynamic arena where fintechs also showcase innovation and compete for the prestigious Fintech Zone trophy — a trophy that now graces Lune’s office!

Over 70 fintechs from all corners of Europe entered the competition, with 16 shortlisted to pitch during the event. With so many game-changing products, the competition was electric. As the only climate tech to make it through to the final, Lune took to the stage to showcase why banks are truly customer-centric only if they have climate features.

Why do customer-centric banks have climate features?

There’s a tidal wave of regulation about to drown companies worldwide. It’s called the CSRD. This EU climate regulation will require over 50,000 businesses to report the emissions of their entire value chain.

Thousands of small businesses prop up these value chains. SMEs that don’t have in-house sustainability experts; SMEs that don’t have the budget for carbon accounting firms. But what they do have is a banking provider. What if they could help them measure their emissions?

Banks can embed emission reporting into their platform with Lune’s white-label API. In doing so, banks can drive revenue, grow monthly active users (MAUs), and grow net promoter scores. It’s a simple and effective win for small businesses, banks, and Lune thanks for EBAday!

Just a word on Lune and what the judges have felt was a really compelling proposition - and something we haven’t seen in the past six years. Lune is a climate impact company, and has developed an API that helps banks track their climate emissions, but also gives them a much more horizontal perspective of offerings...
